Heart Rhythm Care for Pasadena Patients

Pasadena patients make the trip across town for one reason: the same electrophysiologist stays with them from first visit to follow-up.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Office Towers on West 3rd Street, home of CEPI

Getting to our office from Pasadena

From Pasadena, our office is across the city on the Westside, so planning the route helps. Many patients take the Arroyo Seco Parkway, the SR-110, south toward Downtown, then the I-10 west. Exit at La Cienega Boulevard and head north to West 3rd Street. Our office is at 8631 West 3rd Street, Suite 710E, in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Office Towers.

Others prefer the SR-134 west through Glendale, then the US-101 south through the Cahuenga Pass into Hollywood. From there, Highland Avenue or La Brea Avenue south to 3rd Street, then west, brings you to the East Tower.

Depending on traffic, this trip can take a while at peak hours. Patients from Old Pasadena, Bungalow Heaven, Linda Vista and nearby South Pasadena and San Marino often book mid-morning. For a procedure day, plan for someone to drive you home.

Worth the drive: one doctor, start to finish

At CEPI you are not shuffled between specialists. The physician who meets you plans your care, performs your procedure and reviews how you are doing afterward.

Making care from Pasadena easier

Fewer trips with remote monitoring

If you have a pacemaker, ICD or loop recorder, many routine checks can be done from home. The device sends data that your physician reviews, and you only come in when needed. Our guide on remote monitoring explains how it works.

Weighing Watchman against blood thinners

Many Pasadena patients with AFib ask about long-term blood thinners. For some people who cannot take them well, a Watchman implant may be an option. Our guide comparing Watchman and blood thinners sets out the basic differences.

Your physician will explain whether either approach suits you. Please talk to your physician before changing any medicine.

A slow heart in older adults

As we age, the heart’s natural pacemaker can slow or pause. You might feel tired, short of breath on the stairs or lightheaded. These symptoms are worth checking, and a pacemaker is one of several options your physician may discuss.

A slow heart rate can also be a side effect of some medicines. Bring a full list of what you take, including anything from another doctor, so your physician can see the whole picture. Please talk to your physician before changing any medicine.

Planning a procedure day from Pasadena

If you need a procedure, we help you plan the day well ahead. You will get clear instructions about eating, drinking and medicines, and you will know where to go and when to arrive.

Because the drive back to Pasadena can be long, arrange for a family member or friend to take you home. Some patients like to have someone stay with them the first night. Your physician will explain what is normal to feel afterward and when to call.

Questions about CEPI for Pasadena patients

Why would I travel from Pasadena to see you?

Many patients want the same electrophysiologist at every step, from the first conversation to follow-up. If that matters to you, the drive may be worth it. Travel time depends on traffic.

Can my Pasadena cardiologist stay involved?

Yes. We send your cardiologist a detailed report after each visit so your care stays coordinated close to home.

Do I have to come in after every device alert?

Not usually. Many device checks are reviewed remotely, and our office will call you if you need to come in.

Can I have tests done closer to home?

Some tests, such as wearable monitors, can be worn anywhere once they are set up. Others need a visit. Your physician will explain which steps require the trip to West 3rd Street and which can happen from Pasadena.
