From Bunker Hill to the Arts District, Downtown LA patients can follow West 3rd Street almost all the way to our door.

Getting to our office from Downtown LA

Here is a simple fact about our address: West 3rd Street runs west from near Downtown, through Koreatown and Hancock Park, past the Original Farmers Market and The Grove at Fairfax Avenue, and on to our office at 8631 West 3rd Street. We are in Suite 710E, in the East Tower of the Cedars-Sinai Medical Office Towers, on the 7th floor.

If you prefer the freeway, take the I-10 west from Downtown and exit at La Cienega Boulevard. Head north on La Cienega past Olympic and Wilshire Boulevards to 3rd Street. Beverly Boulevard is another steady surface route west from the Downtown edge if 3rd Street is busy.

Depending on traffic, the freeway and the surface streets can trade places for the faster route. If you prefer public transit, Metro’s trip planner shows current bus and rail options to West 3rd Street.

Rate control or rhythm control?

If you have AFib, you may hear two broad approaches. One slows the heart rate so symptoms ease. The other tries to restore and keep a normal rhythm, with medicine or with an ablation. Our guide on rate control vs rhythm control explains both.

Which approach suits you depends on your symptoms, your heart and your goals. Your electrophysiologist will walk you through the trade-offs before anything is decided.

Devices for a weakened heart

For some people with heart failure, the two sides of the heart beat out of step. A CRT device can help them work together again, and an ICD can protect against dangerous fast rhythms. Not everyone with heart failure needs a device, and your physician will explain whether one fits your situation.

Questions about cost

Coverage for rhythm procedures varies by plan. Our guide on insurance and cardiac ablation explains what to ask your insurer, and our staff can help you understand the steps before your visit.

Fitting care around a downtown workday

Many patients work in the Financial District, around Bunker Hill or in the Arts District. A visit to West 3rd Street can be planned for the start or end of your day, depending on traffic, so you lose as little work time as possible.

If you are recovering from a procedure, you may have questions about going back to the office or riding transit. Your physician will tell you when it is reasonable to return and what to avoid in the first days, such as heavy lifting.
